Samaná is one of the most virgin areas of the Dominican Republic, perhaps the best kept secret on the island. A peninsula that offers everything you need to feel part of the wildest nature. Santa Bárbara de Samaná is the main city with about 51,000 inhabitants.

Almost the entire economy of the province revolves around the beach destinations of Las Terrenas, Las Galeras, Portillo, Cosón, Playa Rincón and Playa Bonita, without detracting from the Salto El Limón waterfall.

The large all-inclusive hotels are the exception in Samaná, since since its inception it has remained a destination for independent tourism and, although the real estate boom has gained quite a bit of strength, the small hotels remain one of its main attractions.

Samaná is a province that impresses with its contrasts of green hills and white sand beaches. It is a large peninsula with more than 850 km2, much more than most of the Caribbean islands, so there is a lot to explore, including the largest coconut plantation per square meter in the world.

Moreover, the great development of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues make it a very attractive destination where immigrants (French, German, Italian, Spanish and English from the Caribbean) have played a very important role in gastronomy, culture and religion. It is definitely a destination to choose for those who want an active vacation.

On the other side of the bay, about 10 minutes by sea, you will reach the Paraíso Caño Hondo eco-tourism project with its streams inside. Paraíso Caño Hondo can be reached by car from the south side, through Hato Mayor, crossing the Cordillera Oriental, and passing through the town of Sabana de la Mar.
